How to Use Block Redirect

A step-by-step guide to mastering your focus.

1. Creating Your First Rule

A "Rule" is a group of apps or websites that you want to control. You can create as many rules as you need (e.g., "Social Media," "Work Distractions").

  1. From the home screen, tap the + button in the bottom corner.
  2. Choose whether you want to Just Block an item or Block & Redirect.
  3. Select whether you want to block an App or a Website.
  4. Pick the app from the list or enter the website URL (e.g., youtube.com).

Setting a Redirect (Optional)

Instead of just seeing a block screen, you can automatically open a productive app or website. After adding an item to block, tap on "Choose Redirect" and select a productive destination.

2. Choosing a Schedule Mode

Each rule can operate in one of four modes. You can only change the mode when the rule is disabled (toggled off).

Always

This is the default mode. The rule is active 24/7 whenever it is enabled.

Daily Limit

Set a total daily screen time limit for the apps in this rule. For example, you can limit yourself to 30 minutes of social media per day. Once the time is up, the apps are blocked until the timer resets (usually at midnight).

Planner

The Planner mode lets you block items on a schedule. This is perfect for blocking work apps after hours or social media during study sessions.

  • Weekly: Set a recurring schedule for specific days of the week (e.g., Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM).
  • Appointment: Set a block for a specific date and time (e.g., for a one-time meeting or event).

Pomodoro

Use the Pomodoro technique for focused work. The apps in the rule will be blocked during your "Work" intervals and automatically unblocked during your "Break" intervals. You can use the classic 25/5 minute timer or create a custom one (Premium feature).

3. Understanding Allow Lists (Premium)

By default, rules are Block Lists. If you enable the Allow List toggle on a rule, its behavior is inverted: it will block everything on your device except for the apps in that list. This is a powerful feature for creating a completely distraction-free environment where only your essential tools are available.
